Wendy Samantha
Director's Biography
Wendy’s passion is to see her students develop their confidence through the work that she does with them. Working as a primary school teacher for over a decade and runner-up to the Herald Sun Teacher of the Year Awards 2006, she has now concentrated her efforts on her love of the performing arts and spends her time running Wendy Samantha Productions and holding piano and musical theory lessons in the afternoons.
She has a bachelor of primary teaching / arts – majoring in drama, film and photography (Deakin), and a diploma of creative writing (ACJ). As an actor Wendy has completed courses with Monash University, the CAE and Actor's Showcase whilst working with various theatre companies, on a large array of short films and feature films, and in Melbourne based TV series.
Her love of writing and directing enthuses those she teaches, and she is always encouraging teamwork and positive relationships in her classes. Her students have won many speech and drama awards in state wide competitions, and most go on to obtain scholarships for various schools and leadership positions. Many performers whilst studying at Wendy Samantha Productions have taken lead roles in local theatre productions, and starred in Melbourne’s musical productions including Matilda, The Lion King, The Sound Of Music, and featured in television advertisements and shows including The Wrong Girl, The End, Five Bedrooms and Dead Gorgeous. Wendy is also very proud of those who have been showcased in the VCE Top Acts and Top Arts performances, and those who have gone on to study at VCA and NIDA.
