Showtime was established in Melbourne in 2013 by Wendy Samantha Productions to provide young performers a platform to develop and showcase their skills in performing arts through acting, singing and dancing. Performers often get a chance to showcase some of their work through other public performances or work with members of the media. To be a part of Showtime, performers will need to audition for a role and commit to the production. It is a major commitment to all those involved and includes weekly rehearsals, weekend and holiday workshops.
Showtime aims to do 1–2 productions every year and performers will need to audition to be a part of it. Senior productions are for performers aged 14+ years old. Junior productions are for performers aged 8-14 years old.
There are codes of conduct and standards of behaviour expected of the cast and crew.
Along with intricate costumes, props, make-up and staging, those who take part are always excited to be involved in the publicity for the performance, as well as putting on the show itself. There are numerous photoshoots for advertising and posters, backstage interviews, and of course our very special celebratory after party.
Over the last few years we have successfully performed Annie, The Sound of Music, Fantastic Mr Fox and Treasure Island. All of our performances are held at the Performance Centre at Doncaster Secondary College.
